Laser Hair Removal Prices - Average Prices

Laser hair removal can vary by geographical area, but we have put together some average prices to help you have a realistic picture of how much laser hair removal can cost.  The average cost of laser hair removal is from $150-$500 dollars depending on the treatment area.  A good rule of thumb is the smaller the treated area, the smaller the cost.  The American Society of Plastic Surgeons says that the national average price of laser hair removal treatments in the USA is $429.

Here is a list of average prices per treatment area to give you a good idea of what you may pay.

  • Bikini Area - $350-$500
  • Back - $600-$900
  • Chest - $350-$600
  • Upper and Lower Legs $600-$850
  • Arms $250-$350
  • Face $350-$500

Just remember that on an annual basis, the cost of laser hair removal can often be less expensive than waxing.

Flat Fee Versus Package Fee

Flat fee laser hair removal is an option at most laser hair removal clinics.  Almost always you will save money by buying a treatment package which usually consists of four to six treatments.  Flat fee's are usually meant for people that need maintenance treatments after paying for an initial treatment package.

Another factor that will affect the prices of flat fees and package fees is the technology and quality of the laser hair removal treatment center.  If you go to a clinic that is using state of the art technology and lasers then you will probably pay more than an older clinic.  Don't underestimate quality though as we would strongly suggest using a clinic that has been in business a while and that uses newer technology.

Factors That Affect The Cost

The biggest factors that will affect the price you will pay for laser hair removal is first and foremost the size of the treatment area.  Usually smaller treatment areas, such as the face and bikini area, are associated with the lowest prices for laser hair removal.  Larger areas such as the back and legs, cost much more because there is alot more surface area to treat.

A treatment price is not just for one treatment.  A treatment means that you will get on average 4 different treatments over time intervals of 4 to 8 weeks.  Many people are astounded by the price because they think it only mean they get one treatment, this is not true.  Another factor is if you need additional treatments after the normal 4 treatments.  If you need additional treatments it will cost you a little bit more than the normal because you may have harder hair follicles to treat.

How To Save Money Buying Treatment

Many laser hair removal treatment centers offer financing and package discounts.  Here are a few ideas to help you save even more money while you scout out laser hair removal centers.

  • Offer to pay for all treatments you feel you need upfront in exchange for an overall discount.
  • Tell them you will bring a friend with you if you get a discount for giving a referral.
  • Ask them if you can finance treatment through them to get additional treatment areas or to combine packages for a discount.

See How It Works

Many people are afraid to get laser hair removal because they don't understand how it's done.  Here is a video that explains the basic technology behind it and the video also shows a treatment in action so you can feel better about getting a laser hair removal treatment.

"So all in all, how much will it cost me!"

Point blank, you should expect that 3 minimum sessions will get the job done. The number varies, but this is average. Understand that the first session may zap the hair out, but it takes several sessions to kill the hair follicle, and to get hairs that were dormant and not in their growth phase during your first session. So this is the reason that laser hair removal price varies. Several sessions will make sure that every possible hair is treated. So this is where the "thickness" of your personal skin comes into play so to speak. Also if you wax or pluck a lot, this can be the reason you need multiple treatments. For the most part it may even take up to six treatments, as this is the maximum amount of treatments "most" people need to have. Six sessions are also the average amount of sessions it takes to have a permanent hair removal of 80-90%. In the end, it all comes down to your individual hormones. So if it takes you longer, don't be quick to assume that the doctor isn't doing it correctly. Each of those sessions, if you play it safe AND factor in the national average laser hair removal price of $429, you can expect to pay around $3500 (including miscellaneous

costs) by the time things are over with. And that is as long as your hair doesn't grow back. So basically expect to pay about a car payment per month until you recieve the desired results. Think laser hair removal prices are expensive? Well, the popular motto says, "What we do for the price of beauty"! Or in this case, what we do for the "price of laser hair removal"!
