What exactly is an itrip and how do you get one? This page is dedicated to help you learn everything you could possibly want to know about the iTrip iPod accessory and how it works.

 The iTrip is an neat little device that transmits your audio on your ipod into an FM signal that can be picked up by any radio.  The cool thing about the iTrip is that it plugs into the headphone jack on the top of your ipod.  The audio signal that would be normally going into your headphones is then converted into an over the air FM signal which can be picked up by your car radio.  This cool little gadget was produced by Griffin Technology in March 2006 as well as many other iPod accessories they have created.

• The iTrip has a range of about 15 feet and can broadcast on any FM frequency from 76.0 to 108.0 Mhz.
• iTrip does not use batteries as it draws its power from the iPod through the remote connector port and dock connector port on the ipod.

 iTrip comes in many different styles and types.  Let us break them down for you.

1. iTrip consists of just the main unit that plugs into the headphones jack and remote connector on the ipod to draw power.  It also used the Ipod to select the FM frequency to broadcast the sound signal.
2. iTrip mini is exactly the same as the regular iTrip except it is made for the iPod mini. Functionality is just the same as the iTrip.
3. iTrip black is exactly like the regular sized iTrip but is the color black which matches the black Ipods.
4. iTrip with dock connector uses the lower dock port on the ipod which is also compatible with all generations of the ipod. 
5. iTrip auto is totally geared for a car's audio system.  It comes with the FM transmitter as well as a cord that connects to a car charger.  This is a great product to keep your ipod charged, especially if you are going to be covering a large distance.

iTrip also has products out there made for the PSP which would allow a user to listen to the video game or movie audio from a PSP unit while in the car or near any FM radio receiver.
